Getting the Front End Aligned and Shocks and Struts Replaced Before Getting New Tires

Our car needed an alignment and new struts up front. I figured since it needed struts, it probably needed shocks too. There were marks on the front tires that indicated it was a problem with weak front struts and being out of alignment. Before we would go and get tires in Billings, MT, we had to get the car fixed first. I did not want to put even a couple of miles on the new tires with the struts and shocks being bad and it being out of alignment.

There are all kinds of things that can make your tires wear funny. You can be one of those hard drivers that really takes the corners hard. Maybe you drive with them overinflated or underinflated.

Article about Drug Rehab

Drug and alcohol addiction is fast becoming a problem for many individuals and families alike. Most are under the impression that drug and alcohol dependency is only reserved for people who are perhaps less fortunate, with little motivation or ambition. This however, is not true. Drug and alcohol abuse can affect anyone regardless of their social standing. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, or how affluent you are, drug and alcohol addiction can affect anyone at any time.

A high pressure job can lead to problems with addiction; however, one wouldn’t expect a doctor to succumb to the temptation of alcohol or drugs. Knowing all there is to know on the medical front about health implications and the possibility of addiction, you would assume that doctors have a moralistic view that simply wouldn’t allow them to even consider taking substances, let alone become addicted to drugs or alcohol so that they become highly dependent.
Doctors may find asking for help or admitting they have dependency issues a little more problematic. Having a certain amount of expectation placed upon them, doctors are supposed to be upstanding and dependable citizens, however, they are human and experience emotional issues that can lead to addiction just like everyone else.

The first thing a doctor should do when searching for help is to actually see another doctor. It can be a colleague or friend, but it can also be a doctor that is part of a private clinic which may feel a little more comfortable. As a doctor with a drug or alcohol addiction, you will more than likely need to attend a rehabilitation center to help you deal with your substance dependency issues. There are many programs available within private rehabilitation centers that can be tailored specifically to your individual needs. It is usually the case that a recovery program is devised for an individual based on the type of addiction you have. Treatments and rehabilitation recovery program for doctors deal with everything from the psychological and emotional issues that have led to the addiction to a full scale plan that will help you and your family come to terms with these issues and lead you on the right path to a full and long term recovery.

With thousands of rehabilitation centers across the country, it can be difficult to find the right kind of clinic for you. Each clinic has developed their own unique treatments to deal with all aspects of addiction. Some offer extreme detox programs which don’t allow you to host visits from family during the rehabilitation process, while others offer a more supportive, family orientated style of recovery which even allow you to have the company of your own pet as part of your treatment.

Doctors can fall foul to drug and alcohol addiction just like anyone else, but regardless of who you are there is help and treatments to help you on the road to a full and healthy recovery.

The Porsche Carrera GT is a racecar

Unofficially, the Porsche Carrera GT is a racecar, a racecar built for the street. What makes it a racecar is not necessarily the huge power produced by its V10 engine or the carbon fiber construction that keeps everything very lightweight – although these features surely make it a fast car. It’s more the sum of its parts that make this car worth every bit of its $440,000 price tag.

The Porsche Carrera GT was introduced as a 2004 model and until 2005 there were already a few changes in order to make the Carrera GT the new Porsche super car. These were minor updates in order to make it a little more street friendly. Between the supplemental bar hoops is now mounted a glass screen. The seats height is adjusted along with the additional bolstering in the thigh area. The Carrera GT is easy recognizable, as it’s a low, sleek, lightweight roadster, very beautiful on the outside as it is on the inside. Two removable panels that can be stored in the front trunk make the foul weather protection available.

The car has unique features, among which are: 5.7 liter, 605 horsepower V10 engine, monocoque chassis with Porsche-patented engine and transmission mounts made of carbon-reinforced plastic and the first use of a ceramic composite clutch in a production car. A very important aspect is that The Carrera is safe and stable at speeds up to 205 mph, thanks to its aerodynamic and race-bred suspension package.

The design of the suspension is so sophisticated that the shape of its components improves the Carrera GT`s aerodynamics. The designers used lightweight materials such as magnesium for the car’s substantial wheels and the frames of its special sport seats, the result being a faster and safer car. To prove so, The Carrera GT accelerates from a standing start to 62 mph (100km/h) in only 3.9 seconds reaches 100 mph (160 km/h) in less than seven seconds, 125 mph (200 km/h) in less than 10 seconds, and can achieve a top test-track speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

What makes this car have these impressive results is it’s 5.5 liter, normally aspirated V10 engine for racing created in the development center in Weissach, Germany. That engine’s bores have been enlarged to displace 5.7 liters in the Carrera GT. It has a very low center of gravity, a 68-degree V angle and four valves-per-cylinder heads. Since the block, crankshaft and camshafts are all made of light alloys, the engine weights only 472 pounds (214 kg).

To stop this ‘monster” Porsche`s team used a high-tech braking system. Developed for demanding motorsports applications, ceramic brakes are the first to work for on-road use. The massive 15 inch ventilated discs and six-piston calipers have the amazing capacity of bringing the car to a sure and safe stop, matched only by the stunning acceleration of Carrera GT.

Porsche Carrera GT is definitely a exotic appearance, a car that can do it all: fascinate you with its good looks,   astound you with its performance and abilities on the race track.

Car Show Basic

Have you ever wondered what the point of a car show is? After all, what could possibly be so much fun about accumulating so many cars in a single area? Most people do not realize, but car shows are about so much more than simply lining up a bunch of beautiful cars for people to admire. There are typically contests that are involved in the shows as well with awards handed out in several categories including Best Overall, and often Best Restoration and other similar categories.

For those who are bringing cars to the show, it is a chance to show off the handiwork that they have put into the car, and also a chance to see how others feel about their work. Of course, some people are lucky and walk away from almost every show they enter with a prize, but generally this does not happen. Most people put months and even years of work into a car before they leave a show with a prize.

This can translate into thousands of dollars worth of work often. Dog shows are for dog lovers, and car shows are the equivalent but based around cars. Because of this the competition can sometimes be quite stiff, but in general terms they are still a ton of fun to watch. There is hardly ever a time when someone is unable to find something to do at a car show that does not interest them.

From the dozens to hundreds of cars that are entered there are only a small handful that will leave with a prize or a place as one of the top cars. The fun of looking around and seeing who wins, combined with seeing the beautiful cars, and also participating in some of the other activities that are going on make it a great way to spend the weekend. There are many people who spend all of their weekends looking around for a car show to attend.

Not everyone who is dedicated to attending car shows actually have cars. Some of the people who enjoy car shows the most do not have a car, and may not even have an interested in getting a car that would be able to enter the car show. Deciding if you are interested in attending the car show is often dependent on your personality but realizing that there is much more to the car show than simply walking the rows and rows of cars is often enough to catch many people’s interest.

While car shows are not always considered a sport, they often help to foster great sportsmanship amongst competitors and can be a great way to share experiences and learn plenty about cars. If you are interested in getting involved in the car shows then sometimes attending a few shows before you enter can be a great way to learn as much as possible about what the judges are typically looking for so that you can improve your vehicle to improve your overall chances of walking away as a winner.

Just think in a single location there are so many gorgeous cars that are all beautifully restored and you can spend all of the time you want looking and dreaming about each one. There are so many people to meet as well that you can have a lot of fun and you may discover that car shows are your favorite weekend activity that you never knew about.

Car Rental Safety

Urgency always calls for haste and therefore, one should thoroughly check the car before renting it for any specific purpose.

If the car is not properly checked, there are chances the car may break down after a few miles and may jeopardize your safety. Besides this, your vacation will not work out the way you wanted it to.

You might spend all your time and money on the repairs and maintenance. The interior and the exterior of the car should be examined accurately.

The main things to be checked are the lights, wipers, radio, cruise control and signals before signing the papers with the rental company.

A test drive would help a big deal in understanding the smoothness factor that one longs for when planning long tours.

It is always better to be safe than sorry and hence, the rented car’s insurance is a very important aspect. By opting in for insurance, the car rental may not be all that cheap.

However, in case there is a sudden breakdown, you are certainly endowed with a good amount of compensation to cover repairs and maintenance costs.

Answers to questions pertaining car rental insurance can be found on company brochures that indicate the factors involved in car rental insurance.

To avoid any problems, you should clearly understand the rental car insurance procedure and what type of coverage does it provide. It is also favorable to understand the nature and make of the car.

All of these factors should be considered before deciding to rent a car. These factors are important for the safety of you and your family.

100 Years of Harley Davidson

The Harley-Davidson Company or HD has been around for just over 100 years. It all began with two friends in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1903. William S. Harley stands for the H in HD. Arthur Davidson is one of three D’s. The other two D’s being his brothers, Walter and William Davidson. William Harley and Arthur Davidson began working on the prototype and eventually sought the help of Walter and William. Walter was a skilled mechanic. William was an experienced toolmaker. Together the group formed the HD Company, which was later incorporated.

During 1903 HD turned out a grand total of 3 motorcycles. All were bought and paid for before completion. Gray was the standard color of the first HD motorcycles, which were often referred to as the “Silent Gray Fellows”.

By the end of 1905 the HD Company was not only selling motorcycles, but also motorcycle motors, marine motors, reversible propellers and float feed carburetors. The price of the motorcycle was $200.

The popularity of the HD motorcycle continued to grow through out the following decade. By 1914, nine departments of the federal government of the United States used HD’s. The U.S. Postal service alone used more than 4,800 Harley Davidson motorcycles for rural mail delivery.

In 1916 the military began using HD’s in border skirmishes with Pancho Villa. The motorcycles were equipped with machine guns. HD motorcycles were also used in World War I with half of all models produced being shipped overseas. The war also was responsible for the establishment of the first Harley-Davidson Service School. The HD Company saw a need and met it.

The 1920’s brought an end to the war and a beginning to the world of racing. HD made quite an impact. Harley-Davidson suffered, but managed to survive the Great Depression and continued to prosper through the 1930’s.

Unfortunately World War II came in the 1940’s and HD was pressed into service once again.

The 1950’s brought about new, more aggressive marketing strategies and expansion for this great company. Once again war broke out, this time in Korea. Motorcycles were replaced in popularity with the military with the Jeep. HD was free to concentrate on its civilian consumers.

The 1960’s brought about as much change for HD as everyone else in the United States. This was also when the company began to branch out into an unrelated field of leisure product with the production of 3-wheeled golf carts. By the end of the decade these carts cornered about one third of the United States market, and were even used oversees. HD also began marketing an extensive line of motorcycle accessories.

The 1970’s saw continuing success in the racing venue. Great advancements were made in the racing bikes that were produced by HD. In late 1970 the company also unveiled its brand new snowmobile. Perhaps the biggest change was the merger between HD and the AMF.

The 1980’s began with a buyback, and the HD Company returned to private ownership. The company seemed to show a renewed interest in building better machines So much so that they won the contract with the California Highway Patrol in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1989.

The 1990’s were ushered in with the appearance of HD’s most customized factory custom motorcycle to date, the FLSTF Fat Boy. This bike was reminiscent of the past while still being up to date with the times.

The Twenty first century has come and HD remains strong. Its current line of bikes includes the Sporster, the Dyna, the Softail, the VRSC, and a Touring line. Each line includes several models. Bikes now sell from between $6,000 and $25,000.

The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Sports Car

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato – A close look at this sports including performance, technical data, characteristics, comparison of rivals, history, uses prices

from classic to modern

CAR

The DB4 sports car was launched in 1958 London Motor Show as the series two-door one.

Because of its popularity, the lighter DB4 GT was launched in 1960 in the same place, with a view to its appearance on the track.

This issue, particularly, reducing the wheelbase of DB4 by 5 inches, and use, the body panels thinner lightweight 18 gauge aluminum, whereafter the weight was reduced by 1.270 kg vacuum.

However, when it came to track performance, the DB4 GT fell well below his barn, the DBR1, who won the race in 1959 Le Mans 24 hours.

Consequently, the Aston Martin then decided to approach the renowned Italian style house Zagato, which specialized in building lightweight body.

The intention was to create a corridor, based on the DB4 GT, it would be a serious competition for the Ferrari 250 GT which was, at that time, in an unassailable position in the World Championship Sportcar.

Following the agreement, the first chassis were sent to Zagato in 1960 with the goal of producing 25 units of the new sports car, it would be DB4 GT Zagato appointed.

The Zagato was much smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic than the DB4 GT.

By removing nonessential components such as bumpers, replacing aluminum components as much as possible steel, and use of glass instead Perspex, another 45 kg was removed from the total weight.

A body of aluminum alloy on a compound of steel and aluminum chassis is used to produce a weight of 1.225 kg.

It was fitted with Girling hydraulic disc brakes, independent front suspension with a solid axle in the rear, and 16-inch wheels.

A characteristic body design was the addition of two bulges on the hood to allow protruding rocker covers.

However, once again, Aston Martin could not overcome the supremacy of Ferrari, with the DB4 Zagato is no match for the Ferrari GTO.

Of the 19 Zagatos built when production ended in 1963, most were sold to race teams entered in private, although four were produced as road legal sports cars.

THE ENGINE

The Aston Martin DB4 GT

It was powered by 3.7-liter inline six-cylinder, 12-valve, DOHC, with 9.0: 1 compression ratio, three twin choke Weber carburetors and two spark plugs per cylinder, which developed 302 hp and 270 ft / lbs of torque.

Linked to a four-speed manual closing ratio, this has allowed it to reach a top speed of 152 kilometers per hour, with a 0-60 mph time of 6.1 seconds.

The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato

The Zagato was to be powered by a modified version of the engine used in the DB4 GT, which includes increasing the compression of 9.0 to 9.7: 1, which was developed properly 314 hp at 6,000 rpm and 279 ft / lbs of torque at 5,400 rpm.

This produced a top speed of 154 mph, with 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds.

COMPETITION

Zagato comparable competitors include the following: cars Maserati Ghibli Series 2 Jaguar E-Type, and Ferrari 250 GTO

SPORTS Cars for sale

An original Zagato in showroom condition would be worth anything between $ 2 million and $ 2.5 million.

Aston Martin DB4 Zagato on Track

Four of the chassis used in the original Zagato sports car (also referred to as Sanction 1) were appropriately modified to produce light versions that would be ideal for racing.

These corridors incorporated the following features to improve aerodynamics: A low roofline – enlarged hind wings, with a redesigned tail section and an extended front section.

One Zagatos redesigned did debut at the Goodwood race track in early 1961 when, driven by Stirling Moss, who finished in third place, with his great rival, the Ferrari 250 GT, taking the checkered flag.

However, a couple of months later, two of the quartet, with the support of Aston Martin Racing and assigned to Essex, were introduced in the Le Mans 24 hours, but both were forced to retire.

Not to be outdone, in July 1961, one of these cars Zagatos claimed the first win of the races as part of the British Grand Prix.

A new attempt at Le Mans in 1962 ended in early retirement by engine failure.

Aston Martin DB4 Zagato Sanction 2

The DB4 Zagato production ended in 1963 with 19 sports cars being built.

However, this was not the end of history. In 1988, after having brought Aston Martin, it was decided to modify the original four DB4 chassis, so that they could be transformed in a lightweight construction, identical to that used in the GT DB4.

These were then sent to Milan for bodies comparable to those used in the original Zagatos of the 1960s, with small oval grille badge, and a softer section, redesigned rear.

The first of these modified rolling chassis was sent in January 1989, with the fourth three months later.

These officially approved four replicates were designated as Punishment 2 cars.

Although there was little difference externally of the original, modifications were made to improve the handling characteristics, while the motor capacity increased from 3.7 to 4.2 liters, and the size of the road wheels was reduced from 16-15 inches.

Four replicates were completed in July 1991, but were not allowed to show original logos Zagato.

When placed in an auction, these replicas were sold for as much as $ 1.25 million.

Aston Martin DB4 Zagato Sanction 3

After the sale of the four Punishment 2 Zagatos, it was found that there were still two more shells Zagato body that had not been used, for any reason.

Therefore, in 1992, Aston Martin approached to create new variants of sanction.

Following the agreement, the other two DB4 chassis were discovered, and were duly modified to produce, in conjunction with piercing shells Zagato recently found a final two replicas DB4 Zagato, which was completed in 2000, wearing original logos Zagato.

These were designated as Punishment three sports cars.

Other Replica DB4 Zagatos

For 2000, a total of 19 original and 6 Punishment DB4 Zagatos had been built, and were greatly appreciated, with six figure studies.

Consequently, since then, other non-original and reproductions of punishment have not been built, based on the chassis of the DB4 DB4 GT and.

However, these replicas do not have the cache Zagato sports car, but were nevertheless still convenient, and safe marketplace.
